Description
With opera comique, opera buffa and operetta, musical theatre includes many different genres of comedy. Apart from the plot, music also has its own means of amusing. Masters of humour were undoubtedly Mozart and Haydn, who produced early examples of music with humour. The music of the 20th century, which is often dismissed as serious and cerebral, is even richer in humour: for example, Schickele's "Last Tango in Bayreuth", Camille Saint-Saëns Septet op.65 or Hindemith's "Overture to THE FLYING HOLLANDS, as played by a bad spa band at the fountain at 7 o'clock in the morning". Compositions by our percussionists, Rüdiger Ruppert and Björn Matthiessen, are also on the programme. Laughter is expressly permitted on this evening!

The selection of works and the dramaturgical conception of the Tischlereikonzerte are in the hands of the musicians of the orchestra. They are inspired by the new productions or revivals of the opera programme to create stimulating themes and unusual programmes that are unparalleled in their musical range in Berlin.
